Why I Sing
A quick reflection: I was asked today to talk about why I sing, and I realized in trying to answer that question - yeah….I could give you the cliche "I sing because it's something I've always done,” or “it's always been a part of who I am". But that just felt so cliche to me, so I challenged myself to go a little further.
I needed to change the question a little bit and figure out why I've kept singing after all these years. If it's such a part of who I am.. what's kept me from abandoning it?
I realized… that I sing because it is the process by which I learn the most about myself. I learn what excites me, I learn what scares me, I learn how to get over those fears.
It's how I learn about myself and therefore how I learn about other people.
I hope that helps to plant a little seed of growth that helps you figure out why you are on this musical journey.
